Since the cell phone was invented, it has become smaller, handier,
more beautiful, and increasingly.
It is a great communication device in today’s face-paced world and allows people
to stay in contact, but at the same time, there is also a down-side to this invention.
Cell phones made it convenient for us to connect and communicate with other
people from virtually anywhere in the world.
However, we should only use cell phones when appropriate.
For example, I do not appreciate it when people use their cell phones in the theater.
Although before the movie begins, the screen would display a reminder
for people to turn off their cell phones, some people still choose to ignore the message
and leave their phones turned-on during the movie.
Imagine when the audience is enjoying a movie, and suddenly somebody’s phone rings
loudly across the theater and disturbs the mood of everyone watching a movie.
I do not understand why some people who use mobile phones do not have enough respect for others’ feelings.
In addition, cell phone use at the library is another issue.
The library should be a quiet place for people to read, study, and search for information.
However, there seems to be a few who like to talk on their phones loudly
while showing no respect for others sharing the same public environment.
Do they not know their behavior bother other people?
If they really have something important to say,
they should go outside and not bother others with their conversation inside the library.
Is it that hard to go outside to answer the phone?
We really need to be aware of our own behaviors and show respect to others in public places.
Moreover, the cell phone has the same problem during class.
Students use cell phones when the teacher is teaching.
They may not talk loudly on the phone, but they use the cell phone’s e-mail feature to connect with their friends.
They certainly do not pay attention to what the teacher is talking about.
Now the cell phone has a new function: the camera.
That is a convenient feature for those who like to take pictures anywhere, anytime.
But it is also a scary thing that some vile people use the cell phone’s camera features
in places such as the restrooms, gyms, and department store fitting rooms to
take pictures of others who are changing clothes.
This is a serious problem and I think there should be a law against that use of cell phones.
In addition, there are some other places where the use of cell phones is not allowed:
such as hospitals, airplanes and gas station since the cell-phone’s electric wave could interfere with the electronics.
Therefore, when we are at these places, we should turn off our phones automatically
as this will help maintain public safety.
It would not be such a big problem to miss a phone call,
if there is something really important, the caller would try to reach you again.
I understand that some people really have a need for cell phones and could not live without them.
However, while we are enjoying the convenience brought by the technology,
we need to also demonstrate appropriate manner and respect other people’s feelings as well.
